A message from Cllr Kevin Guy, Leader of Bath & North East Somerset CouncilIt’s fantastic to see Bath on screen again, with our city providing a wonderful backdrop for the latest Agatha Christie adaptation of Seven Dials which premiers today on Netflix. Filming brings millions of pounds into our local economy, supports jobs, and showcases Bath and North East Somerset’s unique heritage to audiences around the world. Not only does it help the local economy when production companies set up in the city but film tourism also provides an income especially for our hospitality sector and retail year round. A big thank you to residents for your support and patience when film crews set up. The council's film office works hard behind the scenes to minimise disruption, collaborate with local businesses and residents, and ensure filming in public spaces is managed responsibly. As you know the council is responsible for many public spaces and our cemeteries are among them. We are currently consulting on a proposal to require dogs to be kept on leads in council‑owned cemeteries. These spaces are places of reflection and remembrance, and we want them to remain clean, safe and respectful for everyone. Taking part in this consultation is a way you can influence local decisions. Please share your views on the council website and have your say. It was a pleasure to welcome the Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Rt Revd Michael Beasley (pictured) to the Guildhall earlier this week to talk about our shared responsibilities and commitment to communities across Bath & North East Somerset. Bath Abbey continues to play a vital role in the wellbeing of our community, offering support, connection and compassion to residents of all ages. It is a place where our community comes together to mark significant moments and like so much of Bath also draws in many tourists to enjoy its purpose, history and architecture. Have a great weekend. |
