A new community energy survey is inviting residents in Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe to share their views on community-owned renewable energy ideas, including wind and solar.
Part of the Energy in Your Community project, the survey supports local people to explore whether community-owned renewable energy could work in their area and what it could mean for residents.
It follows a series of recent community conversations and events, including a Community Energy Forum where residents discussed local priorities, opportunities and considerations relating to community-owned renewable energy.
Feedback from the survey will help identify potential wind or solar locations residents would like to explore further, through technical assessment and future community discussion.
This survey is not about giving a definite yes or no to a specific wind or solar project. Instead, it is asking if residents would like to learn more about community-owned renewables and explore further how they might be an option for Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe.
Even if an area were considered suitable for further exploration, it would still need to go through feasibility studies and further community conversation before reaching the stage of any planning application.
The survey is open to all residents in Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe, including those who have not taken part in previous events.
Kate Elliott-Rudder, from the Centre of Sustainable Energy’s community engagement team, said: “We want to hear as many local views as possible so that the next steps genuinely reflect what local communities think about community-owned renewable energy in their area.
This survey is an opportunity for residents to share their views, supportive, unsure or opposed, and help shape what happens next.”
The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete. It closes at 5pm on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
