Bath residents are being encouraged to share their views on a range of issues affecting their community at their next Area Forum, which will be in-person at Bath City Farm Community Cafe on July 18.
The meeting will include an update on the council’s priorities following the recent elections. Stephen George, principal planning officer, will give an update on the development of the new Local Plan and Paul Harris, vice-chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board will present the new the Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
The community showcase will feature upcoming improvements for four High Street locations in Bath, presented by Hazel Thorp, development officer for regeneration, and the remarkable work being carried out by Youth Connect South West in Bath, particularly the collaborative work with local communities, presented by Sam Plumber, project manager.
Councillor Kevin Guy, leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “This is the first face-to-face meeting of the Bath Area Forum since lockdown began and the first meeting since the local elections. The council will be outlining our ambitious vision for communities across the B&NES district, and we would encourage as many residents as possible to attend in person so they can give us their feedback.”
Nicolette Boater, chair of the Bath Area Forum said: “This meeting, coming at the start of a new, strongly mandated council administration committed to ‘working with residents to act on their concerns’ and with major place shaping policies at a formative stage of development on its agenda, is an unmissable opportunity to make a difference to the future of our city in the face of the increasing ecological, social and economic challenges coming our way.”
The Bath Area Forum will be held at Bath City Farm Community Cafe, Kelston View, Bath BA2 1NW on Tuesday 18 July, 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Area Forums are open to all and bring together public services, local organisations, and residents to improve local engagement, encourage people to talk to each other and share their skills and ideas. There are five forums in Bath and North East Somerset which are supported by the council.
