Free advice about how to save money on fuel bills and reduce carbon emissions at the same time is on offer at a series of drop-in sessions across Bath & North East Somerset.

The Energy at Home Advice Service, run on the council’s behalf by the Centre for Sustainable Energy, is holding the sessions to give residents a better understanding of how to save energy through heating and insulation improvements as well as information on smart meters and lowering their fuel bills by switching energy suppliers.

The events in Keynsham, Midsomer Norton and Bath will give people the lowdown on how to improve energy efficiency to how to keep their homes warmer and more comfortable.

Councillor Tim Ball, cabinet member for Housing, Planning and Economic Development, said: “We all have a role to play in tackling the climate emergency by making sure that we improve households’ energy efficiency by making sure our homes are insulated, draught proofed and heated in the most efficient way we can.

“Our Energy at Home Advice Service is holding these sessions to help people make the most of energy-saving measures, as well as guidance on switching energy providers to lower cost tariffs or green tariffs. I’d encourage people who would like to find out more to go along for some free and friendly advice.”

The Energy at Home Advice Service advisors will hold sessions at the following locations and dates between 10.30am and 2.30pm:

  • Wednesday 29 January at Bath Central Library
  • Tuesday 25 February at Midsomer Norton library
  • Wednesday 26 February Bath Central Library
