High Street in Weston, Bath

High Street in Weston, Bath has been reopened following improvement works by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

After twelve weeks of works the one-way street is once again open to motorists as highway resurfacing concludes a range of safety and accessibility improvements to the area.

The council resurfaced and widened the footway, installed pedestrian safety barriers and new street lighting, removed redundant street furniture and bollards, made upgrades to the drainage system and resurfaced the highway.

Pedestrian access to local businesses and residences were maintained throughout.

Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "These improvements will benefit the street for years to come and I’d like to thank the local businesses and residents for their patience while we carried out the works.

“These works, as well as the new zebra crossing on Crown Road, have made a real positive impact on pedestrian safety and we hope this will help people working, living and visiting the area.”
