Planned resurfacing work will get under way next week along Combe Park, Weston, and residents, hospital staff and visitors are being advised of diversion routes in place.

The essential improvement work will start at 7pm on Monday 29th July and is expected to take up to five nights to complete, depending on the weather.

Work will be carried out under a road closure between 7pm and 7am and will be undertaken in two different phases to ensure that access to the emergency entrance at the RUH is maintained. During the second phase access to the main car park will only be possible from the Penn Hill Road entrance.

Diversion routes will be in place for local traffic and advance notices have been positioned along the route to warn drivers of the road closure.

Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “When we carry out highway improvements we always do our very best to keep disruption to a minimum and especially so when work impacts access to the hospital. We are working closely with the hospital to ensure emergency services will always be given access. The contractor will complete works as quickly as possible, but please be aware that poor weather or good progress on site may mean the timings can change.”
