Somer Valley residents are being invited to attend a drop-in session to discuss what the Climate & Ecological Emergencies mean for them and how Bath & North East Somerset Council and the local community can take action.
The event will be held at Midsomer Norton Methodist Church on November 20 as part of a series of Community Conversations the council is hosting.
The first Community Conversation event was held on October 8 with residents of Batheaston, Bathampton and Bathford given the opportunity to meet representatives from Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE), Climate Hub, Avon Wildlife Trust, Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE), Grow Batheaston and Share & Repair.
The attendees were provided with information packs containing facts and statistics on local emissions. Members of the council’s climate, energy, waste and Bathscape teams were available to answer questions and the council’s WaterSpace team ran a number of children’s activities during the event – building a beaver dam and bug homes from recycled materials.
Councillor Sarah Warren, Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency and Sustainable Travel, said, “The Community Conversations are an opportunity for people to come along and tell us what the Climate & Ecological Emergencies mean for them and to talk about what action they could take to mitigate the impact. We received some fantastic feedback after the first event with people outlining how they would change their own behaviour or pass the information on to help others. We look forward to welcoming everyone to one of our future events.”
The event will be held at Midsomer Norton Methodist Church on November 20. Light refreshments will be served from 5.30pm with a welcome talk at 6pm and the event finishing at 8pm. It will be part of the IMAGINE Midsomer Norton series of events and discussions that invites people to have their say on future project ideas to improve the town centre.
