An information session for parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disability (SEND) will be held in Radstock on June 16.

The two-hour drop-in session is hosted by Bath & North East Somerset Council and the B&NES Parent Carer Forum and is a chance for families to come and meet professionals from local groups, organisations and support services.

The session takes place on Friday, June 16 from 10am to 12pm at Radstock Youth Centre. No booking is required and parent carers can drop in on the day.

Representatives from Youth Connect South West, the Children’s Learning Disability Service, Carers’ Centre, Off the Record, Bright Start Children’s Centre and Bath and North East Somerset Libraries will be on hand to chat to parents and carers about the services they offer.

Also in attendance will be WECIL (West of England Centre for Inclusive Living), SWALLOW, Sendias, We Work for Everyone, Healthwatch B&NES, Bath Area Play Project, Evolve Music and Blue Sky Tennis.

Councillor Paul May, cabinet member for Children and Young People, said: “We want to improve the outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities so that they can lead fulfilling lives and part of this is ensuring they have the support they need. This event will enable parent carers to speak with representatives from the wide range of local support services we have in B&NES, all in one place. Please drop in and join us.”

Livewell B&NES is the council’s information, support and signposting service which provides local information for families with a child or young person with SEND, as well as for all children and families and for adults needing care or support
