Discover the Roman Baths at their most magical with exclusive late-night opening throughout the summer.
Running until 31 August, Summer Lates offers the chance to experience the historic site after hours as it stays open until 10pm (with last admission at 9pm). It’s a unique way to explore the Roman Baths and museum and, as previous visitors have put it, “…the atmosphere you get as the sun goes down is truly magical” and “…mind blowing”.
Throughout Summer Lates the Great Bath will be illuminated by torchlight, with the flickering flames reflected in the water. The museum's relaxed pace and the addition of a pop-up bar serving Champagne, sparkling wine, mulsum (honeyed wine), soft drinks, and Marshfield ice cream, create an unforgettable evening perfect for spending time with friends and loved ones.
Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic & Cultural Sustainable Development, said: “Summer evenings are a magical time to visit the Roman Baths. We are passionate about helping people to experience history and this ancient site in different ways, and Summer Lates gives us the perfect opportunity to do this. Visitors can watch the sun go down over the Baths with loved ones and make memories that will last a lifetime.”
The Roman Baths shop will stay open late so that visitors can browse the unique range of products inspired by the museum collection – from jewellery, prints, books, homeware and games to locally made honey, gin and handmade soaps.
The magnificent Pump Room restaurant will offer two tempting options as the perfect accompaniment to an evening at the Baths:
High Tea
A brand-new High Tea will be served in the Georgian splendour of the Pump Room from Monday to Thursday at 6pm. Featuring sweet and savoury treats accompanied by a glass of English sparkling wine and music from the resident pianist it promises to be a delicious start to an evening at the Baths. Book a table
Evening dining
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Pump Room restaurant will stay open late to serve a sumptuous three-course evening meal of seasonal produce, accompanied by music from the resident pianist. Book a table
