A new zebra crossing has been installed on A36 Warminster Road outside Bathwick St Mary Primary School.
The crossing has replaced a pedestrian island crossing point and now provides a safer place for pedestrians to cross. It is the sixth new zebra crossing introduced by the council this year.
The council’s Road Safety team has also visited the school to give advice.
Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “We’re happy this crossing has been completed around the start of the new school year, helping to keep pupils and families safe on their journey to school on what can be a particularly busy road. This is the sixth zebra crossing we’ve introduced this year as we look to continually improve pedestrian safety.”
Footways at the new crossing point were widened and resurfaced, new bollards installed, improvements to drainage were made and high-friction surfacing was added at both approaches to the crossing.
The council has also recently completed works converting a signalised pedestrian crossing on London Road East, Batheaston to a zebra crossing.
