Bath is getting ready to sparkle in just eight weeks’ time when the ever-popular Christmas Market returns with exciting new attractions.
A new entertainment programme with live music and street performances will create an even more magical atmosphere for some 440,000 people who visit Bath Christmas Market each year.
Visitors will be able to relax in a new cosy indoor space on Stall Street, enjoying a drink from the bar and soaking up the atmosphere.
For the first time, some Christmas Market chalets will also be located on New Bond Street, helping to spread the festive experience across the city centre.
The market returns from Thursday 26 November to Sunday 13 December, with a residents' evening on Wednesday 25 November.
Eighty per cent of this year's 245 traders offering a wide range of handcrafted gifts, festive food and seasonal treats are from the South West area. Sixty-one traders are set to join the market for the first time.
The market will also continue its commitment to sustainability with lower-carbon energy sources, recycling facilities, measures to limit single-use plastics, and encouraging the use of reusable cups where possible.
Accessible routes and toilets, quiet shopping periods and information for disabled visitors will also help make the market welcoming for everyone.
Councillor Manda Rigby, Bath & North East Somerset Council's cabinet member for Communications and Community, said: "Bath Christmas Market is the local highlight of the festive season and we're delighted to welcome residents and visitors back for another fantastic year. With new entertainment, more chalets and the return of an indoor space, there's even more to enjoy while supporting talented traders and local businesses.
“Last year the market generated an estimated £50.7m of associated visitor spending for the city and increased business turnover by £64m. It showcases the very best of Bath at Christmas and it’s not long until you can join in the magic!”
Visitors are encouraged to travel to the market by public transport, walking or cycling where possible. Bath's Park & Ride services offer a convenient way to access the city centre, helping to reduce congestion during the busy festive period.
