Community Contribution Fund to support local good causes

Residents wishing to support others in the community who are struggling during the cost of living crisis are being encouraged to donate to a fund to help local good causes.

The Community Contribution Fund has been running since 2021 and has raised more than £38,000 to fund 39 local projects to date.

The fund is administered by Bath & North East Somerset Council but is not used to supplement council services. Every penny contributed goes to local projects.

The next round of funding for local charity, voluntary or community organisations will be opened during November.

Councillor Mark Elliott, cabinet member for Resources, said: “Every penny donated to the Community Contribution Fund goes to local projects, not to council services. We are extremely grateful for the generous donations given by residents so far.

“We want to use the fund this year to support residents struggling with the cost of living crisis and help local organisations open up Warm Spaces. We are pleased that 26 Warm Spaces were supported last year through the fund to help those most in need. Thank you to everyone who has made a donation this year and directly helped the vulnerable people in your community.”

Any contribution is separate from Council Tax, and people can contribute more than once. The minimum contribution is £5 and there is no maximum.
