Frome Road Radstock roadworks – please plan your journey

Road closed sign

Bath & North East Somerset Council is advising people to plan their journeys between 21st August – 2nd September as Frome Road, Radstock receives essential resurfacing, footway and drainage improvement works.

The works will take place along a section of Frome Road between the A367 and A362 roundabouts. The first week of works will be carried out under a full road closure between 7am-7pm each day, with resurfacing works the following week under an overnight closure between 7pm and 7am.

Footway and drainage improvement works will start from 21st August for five days, during which a short diversion route will be in place. A longer diversion route will be in place until 2nd September as resurfacing works are carried out which include the Frome Road/The Street roundabout.

Businesses in the area will remain open as usual with pedestrian access via footways remaining open throughout the works.

The resurfacing works are part of the council’s annual resurfacing programme, which includes 31 schemes across Bath & North East Somerset. The council will resurface 2,495m2 of highway during these works, an area equivalent to the size of nine tennis courts, which have been planned to take place with overnight closures and during school summer holidays to minimise disruption.

Section 58 restriction has been implemented for this section of road to prevent any planned street works for a three year period. This process helps minimise future disruption and helps prolong the life of the newly resurfaced highway.

Councillor Manda Rigby, cabinet member for Transport said: “Improvement works like this are essential to keep our network at a high standard, with the Section 58 notice will ensure we can protect this section of highway from street works for the next three years.

“A diversion route is in place which appears long; however this was necessary to safely divert HGVs along similar A-class roads.”

Diversion routes will be in place for traffic and advanced notices have been in place to inform motorists of the upcoming closure. Diversion routes can be seen on one.network.
