Outdoor sports courts, community facilities and a park are among the projects set to benefit when more than £171,000 of community funding is distributed to neighbourhood projects in Bath.
The projects that will receive funding from the fourteenth round of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for Bath were chosen following feedback from a public consultation held earlier this year.
Five projects have been allocated funding: Your Park Bristol & Bath will receive £74,919 to create the UK’s first park to meet the needs of young females at Brickfields and Percy Community Centre will receive £25,353 to for the resurfacing of the outdoor multi use sports court.
The funding will also help two community centres: St Andrews Community Church will receive £15,000 towards refurbishment costs and Percy Community Centre will receive £3,640 to for the replacement of the annexe doors.
Bath Youth for Christ will receive £52,389 for the refurbishment of the toilets and kitchen facilities at the Roundhill Hub.
Councillor Kevin Guy, leader of the council, said: “Since its introduction, the Neighbourhood Portion of CIL for Bath has allocated more than £2 million to 60 local projects to support their development. I want to thank everyone who took part in the consultation and helped us to decide where to allocate the money.
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a planning charge, introduced by the Planning Act 2008 as a tool for local authorities in England and Wales to help deliver infrastructure to support the development of their area.
From the overall Community Infrastructure Levy that is collected, Bath receives 15% of the receipts, which are allocated to The Neighbourhood Portion of CIL for Bath. In the absence of a parish council for Bath, the council has a statutory responsibility to allocate the funds.
