Residents given opportunity to shape council’s climate and nature strategy

Residents are being invited to share their views and experiences around nature loss and climate change in an online survey to shape Bath & North East Council’s new Climate and Nature Strategy, which launched earlier this week.

The short survey takes around five minutes to complete and is anonymous. It asks residents a series of questions about action they have taken to protect nature and or reduce their climate impact, any barriers to action they have faced and their view of the council’s work so far.

The council has made tackling the climate and ecological emergencies one of its core priorities and the new strategy will reflect the progress made already and incorporate the Ecological Emergency Action Plan. Feedback from the survey will support and inform the new strategy, which aims to outline action to be taken in the council’s own operations and how the council can support residents and businesses to take action.

Cabinet Member Sarah Warren, Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency and Sustainable Travel, said: “We are really keen to understand residents’ views on climate and nature within Bath and North East Somerset, what they are already doing, what they would like to do and what is preventing them from doing it. I would encourage everyone to take part because the feedback will help the council to develop inclusive policies and action plans that meet their specific needs, concerns and challenges and help to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for everyone in Bath and North East Somerset.”

You can take part in the survey online and printed copies are available in the three main libraries: Bath Central, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton.
