Vulnerable young people to benefit from free summer camps and activities

Activate summer holiday activities

There is still time for children and young people who go to school in Bath and North East Somerset and are in receipt of benefit related free school meals to book onto a range of free summer holiday activities.

Activate Your Holidays is the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme provided by Bath & North East Somerset Council and includes music, arts and sports sessions as well as a variety of trips for children and young people aged between five and 16.

The sessions also include a free meal for the children and young people attending.

The HAF programme is funded by £478,050 secured by the council from the Department for Education for the Holiday Activity and Food Programme in 2023/24.

Families can find more information and watch a promotional video at the Activate Your Holiday website, by calling 0121 2274385 or email haf@we-activate.co.uk

All sessions must be booked in advance using HAF passes through the Holiday Activities app. All eligible families should have already received a booking link by e-mail along with a 16 digit code.

Also available through Activate Camps and Youth Connect South West are activities specifically for secondary age children including sports, games, graffiti, surf trips and learning how to cook.

Bath Summer Escape is running for children in year 7 and above, up to aged 18 who live in the Foxhill, Snowhill, Twerton and Whiteway and surrounding areas of Bath.

Summer Activities is also on offer at Radstock Youth Hub and Southside Youth Centre in Bath.

Councillor Paul May, cabinet member for Children’s Services, said: “The summer break can be a tough time for many families with the extra pressure to keep children and young people occupied and fed nutritional meals, particularly with increased cost of living. We are pleased that the holiday clubs will be welcoming children and young people for a range of exciting and enriching activities. Don’t delay if you’re eligible – sign up now!”
