Works to install double yellow line markings on Keynsham High Street between the cycle lane and carriageway and a broken white line at the edge of the cycle lane will be carried out overnight tonight (April 11).
The street will be closed from 7pm for one night under a Temporary Traffic Regulation notice while the works are completed, avoiding disruption to businesses and traffic during the day.
The lining works follow recommendations from a Stage 4 Road Safety Audit carried out at the request of the council and are designed to provide additional visual cues for pedestrians as they cross the street.
Residents and businesses have been informed of the works in advance.
Councillor Paul Roper, cabinet member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development, said: “Following the Stage 4 audit report we will carry out lining work on Keynsham High Street. This mitigation should make the change in levels clearer to pedestrians and prevent further trips and falls. We are grateful for people’s patience while the audit was undertaken and the road safety report compiled, which we are acting on.”
