Bath Unlimited celebrates five years of championing world-class companies

An organisation created during the COVID-19 pandemic to showcase Bath and North East Somerset’s dynamic, creative and successful businesses is celebrating its five-year anniversary with a free exhibition at the Holburne Museum in Bath.

Bath Unlimited, an initiative created by Bath & North East Somerset Council in partnership with regional businesses, was launched on October 1, 2020 after a business exhibition at the museum bearing the same name had to be cancelled.

The new, free exhibition runs until October 29 in the Holburne Museum café and features many local businesses which are also celebrating milestones, including Avon Technology’s 140 years of trading and Future plc and BMT marking 40 years.

Bath Unlimited is designed to support the council’s Invest in B&NES service in attracting new inward investment by increasing awareness of the area’s flourishing businesses, many of which are global leaders in their field, and promoting the wealth of talent and expertise in the local workforce.

Over its five years of operating, Bath Unlimited has held free leadership events to create local networking, career development and recruitment opportunities with featured companies. In November this year it will hold its first HR community event to help companies improve their people practices to benefit employees in B&NES.

Councillor Paul Roper, cabinet member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development, said: “We have a thriving and diverse local economy in Bath and North East Somerset which is home to many world class companies, so it’s imperative to increase awareness of what these exceptional firms can offer in the global marketplace. Through our Economic Strategy we are seeking to grow the creative and sustainable business base in B&NES and Bath Unlimited performs an excellent role in supporting businesses to build on collective strengths.”

Spencer Hancock, Head of Visitor Operations at The Holburne Museum, said: “I’m delighted that the museum has the opportunity to be part of Bath Unlimited, an important initiative celebrating Bath’s incredibly diverse economy. Many residents and visitors of Bath will not know that Singapore’s iconic Supertrees, the Olympic Park Stadium, Tottenham Football Club and Everton Football Club’s stadiums and Southbank in London were designed by companies in Bath.”
