Sally Higham has been appointed as the new non-executive chair for Bath & North East Somerset Council’s property and development group of companies Aequus (AGHL) Ltd.
Sally who lives in Bath brings a wealth of experience from the commercial and housing sectors. She is currently group chair of the Rooftop Housing Group, advisory committee member for the Growth Impact Fund and managing director of In a Box Services Ltd.
She will take up her role on May 7 when the current chair Charles Gerrish steps down after eight years as non-executive chair.
Ahead of taking up the role Sally and Bath & North East Somerset Council leader Councillor Kevin Guy (pictured) visited the latest social housing properties redeveloped by Aequus. The flats in Westgate Street, Bath have been refurbished and will be used to provide social housing for people who are currently homeless and residing in temporary accommodation.
Councillor Kevin Guy, leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: "I am delighted Sally is joining Aequus as the new non-executive chair. With her extensive experience and proven leadership abilities, I am confident that Sally will make significant contribution to the company's continued growth and success.
“I look forward to working closely with her as Aequus and the council embark on an exciting new chapter to deliver more market and affordable housing both within Bath and North East Somerset and in partnership with our neighbouring authorities.
“I also want to thank our current non-executive chair Charles Gerrish for his hard work, commitment and service which has been greatly valued.”
In her role as non-executive chair, Sally will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction of Aequus, fostering innovation, and upholding the Shareholder’s core values and objectives for the company.
Sally’s appointment followed an extensive recruitment process and underscores Aequus’ commitment to excellence and reinforces its desire to build on the success of the company to date in delivering market and affordable housing to meet local needs.
Sally said: "I am pleased to be joining Aequus and to have the opportunity to help realise the company’s potential for growth and innovation. I look forward to working with the council and the team at Aequus to both develop and deliver more homes to the area."
Aequus was set up to develop, deliver, own and manage property for both the rental and homeowner’s market. Councillor Kevin Guy as council leader is shareholder for the group.
